End of Summer Update

It's been a pretty good summer. Despite all the hot work outside, I've been able to go to EFY, Girls Camp, Youth Conference and a weekend and Rachel's :).

Tomorrow school starts for OHSU and Box Elder High starts Tuesday. I am excited - but I'm pretty sure in two weeks I'll be begging for summer...actually I really hope that's not the case. As of this semester my schedule consists ACT prep, Pre Calc, English, Chemistry, Spanish, and World History at OHSU. At Box Elder I only have Choir and Seminary this tri. BUT Next semester I have Swimming and the trimester after that I have Dance 3(Swing, Ballroom, etc.)
It's kind of interesting going to both schools at the same time because one goes by semesters and one goes by trimesters, but somehow it works out for me.

I also have to show you a bag that Rach helped me make while I was at her house. But Blogger is being retarded and I can't move the pictures around. The bag pictures are on the bottom, I think. Did I mention it's reversible? I really like it :) Thanks Again, Rach.

The pictures of the flowers are ones that I've made in the past few days. The blue one is my favorite. I found all the tutorials online.
White and blue ones - http://hopestudios.blogspot.com/2009/03/spring-bouquet-ribbon-flowers-two-ways.html

Brown one - http://kindawonderful.typepad.com/pink_paper_peppermints/2008/06/rounded-petal-fabric-flowers-31-crafty-flowers-in-31-days--day-23.html

Anyways, that's my life. It's about to get ten times busier though so don't expect much.

Why Now??

Flippin' Blogger. It won't let me put on pictures right now but I took some pretty cool pictures of me having a fight with myself. What? You don't get it? You can see it at my other blog : http://photographytrainee.blogspot.com/. It's the post labeled "Just for Fun"

Pumpkin Stuff

This is for you Callie. It's also another school assignment. It's my extremely embarrassing anecdote.

It was about four or five years ago when a funny, embarrassing incident happened. I was craving something sugary that day, and we didn’t really have anything sweet. So what other option do I have then to make something? Somehow I ended up choosing pumpkin cookies. I looked at the the old yellow paper that had the recipe on it. Considering how old the paper was, I could read most of it pretty well; I started putting in ingredients. All was going well when I saw how much honey it called for; 13 cups!! I was so confused! I should mention now that at the time I was home alone, otherwise I would have asked for help. Not sure what to do, I proceeded to put the honey in. I had probably put in four or five cups of honey when my sister-in-law walked in. After the usual “Hello, how are you” conversation I told her I was making cookies and my question about the honey. She was shocked and examined the old, tattered recipe and laughed as she said,”Sarah, I think that says ⅓ cup of honey!” I buried my hands in face, starting to cry. “It’s okay, I’ll help you!” she said as she went into the pantry to fix my horrible mistake. My amazing sister-in-law came out with a spice cake mix. “Would this work?” “I guess,” I replied, not caring to finish what I started. Somehow, she helped me add enough cake mix and the cookie dough ended up being pretty good pumpkin bars. Since that day I keep telling my Mom to rewrite her recipes on new paper so people can actually read them!

P.S. Callie is the sis-in-law in case you didn't get that.

The Visitor

Hi all! This is a story I wrote for English. Proof that I really do school! Enjoy!

The Visitor
I finally put down the book, knowing if I was late for work I would get a pay cut. I got my cowboy boots and brown jacket. I reached for my keys from my desk but they weren’t there. “That’s weird,” I thought. “Where could they have gone?” I frantically looked around, wondering where I could have misplaced them. “I can’t be late again!” I said aloud. I searched the room and as my eyes passed the window I saw a sort of metal staff. I knew that was not supposed to be there and as I looked closer I saw that my keys were on the staff! Immediately I flew out the door to see why my keys were on a jagged metal staff.

I got outside and saw that the staff was held up by a human figure in a black robe. Suddenly I felt fear inside me. It wasn’t a normal kind of fear that everybody feels when they think they are about to die. No, it was sort of a magical fear. It was unexplainable. I was filled with a fear so sharp I almost fell down to the ground in shock. But I couldn’t figure out what I was scared of. I think that’s part of why I was so scared.

“Ho-how did you get m-my keys? Why d-do you w-want them?” I stuttered.

“I seek for your assistance,” said the figure.

“Assistance?” I asked.

He replied, “Yeah, you know, helping some-”

“Shut-up, I know what what it means!” I interrupted, some of the fear subsiding. I hated sounding like I didn’t know what things meant. “Why do you want my help?”

“Well, it’s difficult to explain,” He started. “I’m not from this earth. I guess you could call me an alien but I’m not from outer space. I from another dimension within this world. I need your help to find a location where I can go into another dimension.”

“Another dimension, eh? Okay, what’s your name? There’s a mental hospital down the street. Just give me the keys and you’ll be fine,” I said in all seriousness.

“I’m not mentally ill!! I’m serious! My name is Santar. I can prove to you I’m from another dimension,” replied Santar, very frustrated.

“Oh, yeah? You have a super power or something?” I said jokingly, “can you read minds? Fly? Super speed?”

Santar rolled his eyes and said, “No. Those are normal super powers. I can make objects come to life. I can make people feel what I want them to. I can’t read peoples’ minds but I can let them read mine when I want them to. I’ll show you. Give me your watch.” I gave him my black and blue watch. Holding it in his hand he said some weird gibberish and out of nowhere I heard the watch say, “Hey, what do you want with me? Let me go! Put me on a wrist!” The watch kept mumbling on quietly.

I was stunned! I was hearing a watch talk! I began to wonder if I was the one who was mentally ill. I was starting to go insane. What if this wasn’t real? What if this was all in my head? I started to think back if I had taken something to make me delusional. I heard Santar’s voice again.

“Are...you okay?” he asked.

Still thinking I was delusional, I pushed the question away from my mind. How could this happen to me? I was a good, healthy person! What if this dude stayed with me for the rest of my life and I was the only one who could see him?

“What is the matter with you?” asked Santar as he grabbed my shoulders and shook me.

That seemed to awake me from the conflict that had aroused inside me. I some how managed to pull myself together and ask, “Okay...well...I don’t want a talking watch. Can you make it go back?”

“Yeah, no problem,” Santar spoke more gibberish and the watch was silent again.

I sighed with confusion and exhaustion. “Okay then, what do we do now?” I asked. “We need to find an extremely private place with a lot sunlight,” Santar explained. “Do you know a place like that?”

“Yeah, actually I know of a place just like that!” I said, hoping to get whatever he wanted over with.

“Well let’s go then!” Santar said, excited.

We got into my blue beaten-up car and headed off to the horse ranch where I worked. Somehow, I couldn’t stop fidgeting. I didn’t know what was wrong with me. As I tried to make conversation with the bizarre new stranger in my life I couldn't force any words out. It seemed as if Santar was having the same issues. Thankfully, it was a fairly short ride and the awkwardness was soon over.

“What is this place?” Santar asked curiously as we got out of the car.

“This is where I work. Follow me,” I replied, walking toward an empty horse pasture. We stopped near the center of the field. “This is the place,” I said, wondering what he would do.

“This will do,” he said, seeming satisfied. He pulled out of his pocket a glowing sphere about one inch in diameter. He set it down on the ground and the ball somehow soaked in the sunlight so that you could see the rays being absorbed into the rounded shape and glowing out in a greenish tint. The glowing and absorption abruptly stopped and a funnel shape grew out of the ball.

“Thanks for your help!” were Santar’s final words as he waved and jumped into the hole in the air. The funnel rapidly grew smaller and disappeared in an instant.

“That’s it?” I thought. I couldn't decided if I liked it or not that Santar had gone. But life was back to normal, and it was time to get to work. I had to hurry because I really couldn’t afford a pay cut. I started pondering if all of that was real when I heard my boss loud and clear yell, “Maddy! What are you doing? We have horses to feed! Stalls to clean! Get over here and get to work!” I sighed with contentment. Life was back to normal.
